I grew up in a cottage situated very near 18-mile creek which is a Lake Ontario harbor, in the tiny hamlet of Olcott, New York. It was there that I came to notice the land- and sea-scapes and began to paint and draw.
Over the years, I used my art skills when called upon, for example, I painted large murals for theatrical productions put on by my church.
Not until 2002, did I take a watercolor class with an international artist and begin to love the medium and want to do more with my art. All of that can be seen on my website at www.gaildicarlo.com and on Facebook at Gail DiCarlo Fine Art. I began my art business after 3 layoffs within 5 years through the New York State SEAP program. I continue to work weekdays, while developing my in-studio paintings and providing commissioned works for customers. For the past 6 years I have been painting en plein air and have an interest in competing more in the future. Being an outdoor enthusiast, painting on location is a great way to continue painting as my husband and I travel about the US and Canada.
